Keeping our distance with a long lens, but just had to stop by and spy on this newest member of the Dalewin family 😍🐴

Hidden corners of the Yorkshire Dales where the only rush hour is butterflies drifting past waterfalls 🦋💧

Just 20 minutes from The Green Cumbria, we stumbled across an old quarry reclaimed by nature - wild orchids blooming between the stone, marsh marigolds glowing beside the water, and nothing but birdsong for miles.

No crowds. No traffic. Just slow mornings, fresh air and the kind of quiet you forget you need.

For anyone craving a few days of wildlife, waterfalls and proper countryside calm. 🌿

Did someone say cheese? Such an easy way to make us smile! 🧀🧀🧀😋

Delicious cheesy afternoon tea at #wensleydalecreamery with lots of #wensleydalecheese - what could be better! Just a 40 minute trip from The Green Cumbria - and the drive is worth doing on its own taking you past Pendragon Castle and along the Settle-Carlisle route before you reach Wensleydale - one of our favourites.

An afternoon at Larch Cottage Nurseries 🌿

Part garden nursery, part beautiful show garden, part Italian café - the kind of place you accidentally spend hours in.

Stone baked pizza, incredible cakes, bees everywhere, and wisteria spilling over the veranda while you eat overlooking the gardens.

One of those places that feels quietly magical 🐦‍⬛

Sometimes I'll head to the back gate of The Green with a camera just because the light is right and you never quite know what you'll see, but I think our neighbours the ponies know now the camera wont hurt them and they're getting curious! Aren't they just gorgeous though! 😍

So many people head for the famous Lake District peaks or the Yorkshire Three Peaks searching for a bit of escape, only to find themselves surrounded by crowds chasing the very same thing.

This place feels different.

Part of the Pennines and rising to 708m, it’s one of the highest points in the Yorkshire Dales, with huge open views and a ridge scattered with mysterious stone cairns - the “stone men” that watch over the fell.

It’s a walk that rewards you not just with the scenery, but with something a little harder to find these days too: space, quiet, and time to properly switch off.

I love this time of year, you can't rush it, but you know so much colour is just waiting to erupt - but while we wait, we get forget-me-nots, blue bells and blossom - i wish I could share the heavenly scent of this place too 💚

What a cute little chap! Spotted on our waybhome this afternoon to make the most of those great feeders supplied by Gary from @penrithredsquirrels made from recycled plastic by volunteers ♻️

A quiet moment in the beckside garden… just birdsong and a visiting red squirrel 🐿️
No noise, no rush - just nature.

Well after this morning's sheep shenanigans our lovely neighbour popped over with his digger and helped us deepen the cattle grid - cue the Robins! Such brave little souls!

Just heading home today and decided to take the slow road home. What a great decision, sometimes its good to just stop and admire the view.

A short spring stroll to #cotterforce on our way exploring Hawes - probably about 20 minutes walking time but we took more like an hour because we love lambs and waterfalls. Sometimes its just good to take in a scene slowly and enjoy the landscape 🍃

Sometimes you've just got to wait for the local traffic and remember this is why you moved here 🤣

Scrumptious lunch a short drive from The Green Cumbria @thedalesmansedbergh - so delicious and just a 20 minute drive away - followed by a tour of Sedbergh's amazing bookshops

Wow, how special is this - week have so many nest sites but rarely can we see right in! Mummy and Daddy blackbirds have been super attentive int he past few weeks and we were so pleased to see their success in hatching chicks today - we'll be keeping g a close eye on this little family! 😍

I was just walking to the end of the drive today to clear one of the drain by the track and found d these gorgeous lambs frolicking at the edge of the stream - then one of the fell ponies came for a nuzzle 💚 Made a muddy job so worth it! 😍

Have you ever heard a Curlew? Here in the Howgills we're so lucky to still enjoy their distinctive call and for the past week or so at The Green, weve been treated to evening song and flypasts of these marvellous birds! Curlew are endangered in the UK

When we say we're walking distance from award winning local pubs - we mean it! Our friends @kingsheadrsd outside themselves with this fantastic Easter dessert - maybe we need to extend the walk to work some this off! 🐣😋

A few days can make all the difference.
